ATLAS in situ

Installation art

Site specific art, monumental sculpture in Bamboo, this lightweight structure was presented inside the glass atrium of the palace of the studies of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2011. This piece plays with structural and constructive elements and transparence to overcome the majesty of the space. The art work deploys ten kilometers of bamboo in one/third of the total volume of the atrium. The bamboo was used for its unique mechanical and physical properties: lightweight, high tensile strength, compression and bending that reflect the artists’s interest for science and engineering.
